SCA- Suffolk Care Association

Mrs Prema Fairburn, Director of Primary Homecare is very well known and respected in the Care sector locally. She has many years nursing experience and both Residential and Nursing Home Management experience. She has taken an active part advocating for Care Providers throughout Suffolk so it made perfect sense when she was elected as the Chairperson for SCA in 2020.

SCA was founded in June 2006, by care providers themselves to create a self-help organisation who would work closely with other agencies and stakeholders responsible for care services in Suffolk.

The Association is governed by a Steering Group (elected annually at the AGM) and a Board of Directors appointed when the Association converted to a not-for-profit limited company in 2011.

Since inception, in conjunction with Adult Community Services at Suffolk County Council, the Joint Suffolk Care Partnership (JSCP) evolved which provides a platform from which all care related matters appertaining to the residents of Suffolk could be addressed.

Quarterly JSCP meetings are held and when members of the SCA Steering Group And Board meet with senior ACS officers, the Portfolio holder for Adult and Community Services at Suffolk County Council and representatives from other relevant bodies e.g. health and the CCGs to address provider issues and the different problems and changes which the sector has to entertain.

SCA act as a conduit between the local authority and providers sharing information and leads on the annual fee negotiations for providers who accept local authority funded clients in need of care services.

Annual subscriptions are set by the Steering Group subject to ratification by members at the Association AGM.

SCA has successfully resolved many issues in the time they have been working together with other statutory bodies.
